You are not the only one in that case, please don't worry ! I encourage you to connect with other French learners (join m community on Instagram for example).
Of course loosing confidence when speaking French or any second language is normal... But it is not a game over ! Here are some tips to maintain your confidence and your motivation during your French interactions with natives.
1. Nobody judges you: Imagine your French native interlocutor speaking YOUR native language ! I am pretty sure you will be better than him/her.
2. Practice Regularly: Consistency is key. Even short daily practice sessions can lead to significant progress over time. I usually recommend my students to imagine a short dialogues with key vocabulary before facing a planned situation. For example if you have to go to a shop to fix your bike, no doubt you will need vocabulary such as "roue", "chambre à air", "frein"...
3. Immerse Yourself: Surround yourself with French as much as possible. Listen to French podcasts, watch French movies, and try to think in French throughout the day. Start speaking to yourself when in the shower for example or on your way to work.
4. Join a Community: Find a language exchange partner or join a French-speaking group. Practicing with others can boost your confidence and make learning more enjoyable. You will also realize that many learners are in the same stressful situation. You could find enjoyable support
5. Be Patient and Kind to Yourself: Remember that making mistakes is a natural part of learning. Every error is an opportunity to improve.
Learning French is a journey filled with challenges, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Keep your confidence high, and embrace the beauty and richness of the French language and culture.
